Young people put proposals on table that bring initiative's goals within reach

Ferdous, 38, is a Bangladeshi doc- tor in Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Acad- emy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College. He is work- ing on building a resource-sharing platform for medical institutions in countries involved in the BRI.
Ferdous' proposal is one of more than 100 project proposals from global young people in the Wise- Demo Campaign 2022 of the Global Young Leaders Dialogue. The event was co-organized by the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies and the Center for China and Globalization.
The platform aims to strengthen exchanges on diagnosis and treat- ment technologies, academic discus- sions, training for young doctors and sharing of telemedicine services. More than 30 hospitals in 10 BRI countries have expressed interest in taking part in the project, he said.
Ten project proposals were select- ed as the best ones on Friday and will receive support from the my and others to put their proposals into action. Of various global issues that young people are about, the BRI has stood out.
Ferdous, who gained a PhD degree at Shandong University School of Medicine in 2017, started his career at the Fuwai Hospital. Over the years he has taken part in many health collaboration pro- grams in countries involved in the BRI, including Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
" I think it is because the BRI concrete and realistic, " said Yu Yur quan, president of Academy Contemporary China and Worl Studies. " It has brought tangib benefits to participating countri and created real developme opportunities for the youth of countries."
This experience and the pandemic have inspired him to develop a plat- form that could help doctors in BRI countries work together to deal with post-COVID-19 symptoms and pre- vent similar health crises, he said.
Since the BRI was initiated ni years ago many young people wide have taken part exchan activities related to BRI. They ha felt the tremendous changes the B has brought to the world, Yu said.
