The Cullens went hunting on Friday. To avoid questions, Star pretended to be sick, and stayed at the house. She spent the day reading her favorite book, Jane Eyre, at some point she must had fallen asleep, because when Bella's call came, she found herself lying on the sofa. Rubbing her eyes, Star sat up and answered the phone:"Hey Bella, how's it going?""Are you feeling well? I'm sorry to hear that you are sick.""Oh…Yeah, I'm fine now, thanks for asking." As a matter of fact, she had nearly forget about the excuse she used. "I just want to ask if you would go with me to La Push, Mike's planning a trip there with a few of other friends, and I thought it would be fun if you came too. I mean, if you're feeling well enough to, of course.""I'd love to, actually. When shall we meet?"
The next day, Star drove Edward's volvo to the Newton's Olympic Outfitters, to find the others ready to go. Since there were too many people, Bella joined Star in the volvo. As They drove near La Push, something strange happened. Loud angry wolf howls interrupted the stillness of the woods, but as suddenly as it had started, the howl stopped abruptly, leaving Star and Bella staring at each other, bewildered and a little scared.
When they finally got to the beach, they found that the others didn't hear the wolf howls, as if they had been directed at them. They didn't mention it to the others, afraid that the news will disrupt their good mood.
After Bella went hiking with most of the boys, Star sat next to Angela, chatting from time to time, and staring at the blue fire of the drift wood fire. She wondered about her parents back at China, they should be here next month, if everything went well. The thought of her parents brought up repressed emotions, she quickly blinked back the tears that stung her eyes, and joined Angela's conversation with Ben.
