Mobile phones do more good than harm

In just the last ten years, people have become more likely to believe that mobile phones harm the development of innocent children. But this is actually not the case. Intensive international research has found no conclusive or convincing evidence that mobile phones damage health in the short or long term. In my opinion, there are three main benefits of mobile phones. They help us get information faster. It gives us a quicker way to communicate with others. Lastly, the mobile phone provides more independence to teenagers.

Compared to the past, mobile phones provide people with thousands of sources of information. It helps us get information a dozen times faster than going to many libraries and skimming through many books, which, even after all that time spent, might not provide us with what we are looking for. We can even enjoy the miracle of recording and instantly transmitting anything we see and hear. Additionally, we can learn new things online for free. For example, Maths, English, crochet, knitting, dancing and more. Who wouldn't like to have this fascinating, fast and free data at their fingertips?

You couldn't imagine that in the 1980s people had to send mail to each other in order to communicate and it took at least a week. Thanks to mobile phones, we now can share with people in the other half of the world in just seconds. It gives many people a quicker way to communicate with others. It helps us keep strong relationships with friends we haven't met for ages, especially during Covid. Mobile phones not only help people stay in touch with others faster but also better. Messages can be checked by yourself and others and rewritten to ensure we send the right message. There are also apps checking grammar, spelling, and punctuation like Grammarly.

The teenage years are often an age where people develop their understanding of the world and themselves. We usually want to be more mature and be treated like an adult at this age. Teenagers need more independence and trust and have privacy. At this stage, it is good and reasonable to get a mobile phone. A phone can help in the development of good independent habits. This provides the young person with the opportunity to learn to use technology responsibly and in moderation. Phones allow teenagers a break from studying and the chance for entertainment or to chat with friends. This should be part of a study-life balance.

In conclusion, from these benefits, we can state that mobile phones do more good than harm. A mobile phone isn't a hero but it is a helper to teenagers and adults. It is an essential thing in our life in the 21st century. Since it is a huge benefit to life, why say no to it?
